Shawnigan Lake Volunteer Fire Department - Hall 3

As Shawnigan Lake grows in size and numbers the need for an addition resources is recognized. In our current position, it has been recognized that the Shawnigan Lake Volunteer Fire Department should have a thrid hall in the area south of the Lake. Santa Run

We are proud to present the annual Santa Run on Wednesday, December 21st from 6 pm to 9 pm

Santa visits the beach estates starting at Ceylon Road, making his way to Linden Lane.

On the East side, Santa starts in the Village, down to Wallbank Road, south to Galland Road and then north to Burnham Park area.

Shawnigan Lake Volunteer Fire Department Open House

The Shawnigan Lake Volunteer Fire Department would like to invite everyone to the Open House at Hall #1 on June 18th 2011 from 10am - 2pm. Please come out to meet your local firefighters and see:

Live Demonstration of High Angle Rescue at approximately 11 am & 1:00
Live Demonstration of Auto Extrication at approximately 11:30am & 1:30
Displays of New Engine #8 as well as other Apparatus and Equipment
Children’s Activities
Hot Dogs
Information Tables

Please come down the Hall #1 and see what the department is all about!

Back Yard Burning

Shawnigan Lake Improvement District Burning Bylaw allows back yard burning as of October 1st through till June 15th. Please see our Burn Status page for more information.
And please remember:

The material burned is to be clean and dry, and in a condition that provides for safe and proper combustion, and don’t leave fires unattended.


BURNING OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE, DEMOLITION MATERIAL, RUBBER, PLASTIC, TAR AND ASPHALT ROOFING IS NOT PERMITTED.

Camp fires are now permitted

With the recent rains and lower temperatures the Coastal Fire Center has lifted the camp fire ban and reduced the fire danger rating to LOW. Please use caution with your campfire, keep it small and don’t leave it unattended. And please use see our BURN STATUS page for more information on camp fire size restrictions and information for other types of burning.

EMERGENCY CALL ‘911’

The Shawnigan Improvement District has a policy in place that Shawnigan Volunteer Fire Department does not provide distances from hydrants or fire stations for insurance purposes.
